Album Overview
Echo laden doom
Gritty production makes for some classic doom minimalist landscapes
Sophomore release from the Californian duo
Donny’s vocals are no question at the forefront and in your face. He does not hide well behind the echo at times. Credit the varied style attempts
Entertaining first listen that grows tiring very quickly
Last three tracks show significant signs of improvement... difficult to get through first three
Track by Track Breakdown:
1. The Witch Is Coming (10:45)
Excellent intro and undercurrent. Three different vocal styles disrupt and derail the rotation on this one.
2. I Want to Touch You (14:12)
Disturbing title with very superficial stomach turning lyrics.
3. Backwoods Banshee (8:12)
Good start that fall flat once vocals kick in.
4. { S P A C E R } 2:19
5. Earthed (8:15) Standout Track
By far the best track. Nice jazz-fueled percussion and wonderful doom contrast. Oh…..and an instrumental.
6. Inflicter of Karma (8:04)
Better as Donny tones things down with the vocals. Nice fretwork undercurrent on this one.
7. Come to Dying (14:18)
Some nice classic doom moments on this track. Classic Sleep feel at times..
Brew Pairing
Doom by Founders Brewing Company. At 12.4 ABV this may numb your senses a bit to endure the first 3 tracks. A collision of worlds, the intense hop character of our Imperial IPA mingles with the warm vanilla and oak notes imparted from the time spent in our favorite bourbon barrels.
