Project Armageddon (Cosmic Oblivion)
Turn this to 3.6 of 11
Released: 2015
Genre: Stoner Rock, Doom
Sounds Like: Pale Divine, The Gates of Slumber

The first eight minute opening track entitled "Cosmic Crush" starts off with some very positive energy. Not groundbreaking but we are optimistic with the intriguing stoner melodies that unfold throughout the instrumental. The positive energy is quickly deflated once the vocals commence on "Vortex to Oblivion." Unfortunately Alexis' attempts at being dark and witch-like sound more like a bad rendition of Phil Lewis from the L.A. Guns meets Ted Poley from Danger Danger.
Track Listing:
1. Cosmic Crush
2. Vortex to Oblivion
3. Lost to Forever
4. Frigid Bitch
5. Deceiver (Judas Priest cover)
6. Time's Fortune (Acoustic)
7. Tides of Doom (Live)
The Texan trio's third album is frankly very difficult to get through. Cosmic Oblivion loses all momentum after the opener. Quality stoner melodies vanish into oblivion once the vocals dominate. Other than some fleeting moments during "Frigid Bitch" where a cool bass-line and some tempo changes occur, we couldn't get this one off fast enough. The album also features a painful cover of the Judas Priest classic "Deceiver," as the band certainly makes it their own. To close things off, they go the very taboo route of ending with a live and poor produced track from a previous album entitled "Tides of Doom."
While we do appreciate the album art on Cosmic Oblivion we are going to have to turn the knob down on this one.
