Released: 2020
Genre: Death Metal
Sounds Like: Cattle Decapitation, Exhumed, Immolation

Prepare to have your ear drums pummeled after listening to this one. Pneuma Hagion from Texas bring forth a bludgeoning nine song beast on their 7th release Voidgazer. This is some decent death metal for a duo, the production is good and the vocals are in typical death metal belching fashion. The saving grace for this album is the music. These two really lay down some impressive slaying metal. The percussion is non stop and the speed metal guitars are impressive. Also, this album contains very short track lengths, just when you're ready to move on, the song ends, so it's not too overbearing. We seem to take our Death metal in short doses, but If you love this genre, this album is definitely for you.

Standout Track(s)
The standout track may be "Primordial". This song spirals into doom territory with church bells in the background, creating a very ominous aura.
Adult Beverage Pairing
Dirty Bastard by Founder Brewing. The 8.5% Scotch Ale is a unique and complex brew. Like Death metal, Scotch Ale is an acquired taste.

Final Thoughts
Pneuma Hagion do not bring anything new to the genre, yet it's a decent homage to old school Death metal. If you want a quick fix for some new Death metal, then dive into the madness of Voidgazer.
