Nap

The second full length by German progressive psych trio Nap continue on their journey to deliver some high-end diverse rock. Ausgeklingt follows in the footsteps of 2016’s Villa, which is a tremendous album as well. What draws us into their blend of progressive psych rock is the ability to draw from so many influences and keep it original. “Astrojelly” kicks off the album with a smooth flowing jam to wet the appetite. The steady bass and psychedelics will easily lure you in. From here on, Ausgeklingtcontinues on a highly entertaining trip of psychedelic, progressive and stoner rock journey. The album is kind of unpredictable as they throw a ton of well timed change ups into the mix. The vocals have a Colour Haze tone and are used sparingly bringing a unique vibe to the music.

Nap are becoming a staple in our rotation, we gravitate towards bands who can take heavy psych rock and put their own stamp on it. They definitely possess a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard meets Wolf People sound. Ausgeklingt is easily one of the years top psych albums, so we urge you to pick this one up.

Tracklist:

Standout Track:

The whole album stands out, but if we must pick a song or two so with the instrumental “Weltraumvolker” and its math stoner vibe. The fourth track “Ausgeklingt” has some quirky rhythms, but that is the allure and is one hell of a tune.

Adult Beverage Pairing:

Lets go with Augustiner Bräu Maximator from Germany. This 7.5% ABV German Dopplebock is dark with amber color and tastes and aromas of caramel.
