MODOK (Self Titled)
Crank this to 8.3 of 11
Released: 2020
Genre: Doom
Sounds Like: Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Salem’s Pot, Alastor

MODOK from Finland have released their third EP of acid-laced doom with occult themes. The trio consisting of Onni, Henri and Juho have elevated their game on this one. While the first two releases contained a raw and homegrown feel, this one sounds more polished with a deeper sound. The vocals on “Altar” does resemble newer Sleep at times, but who the hell cares, the track is loaded with heavanly sludge. It’s a shame there are only three tracks here as the album is very engrossing and fly’s by in a heartbeat. Fans of Uncle Acid and Salem’s Pot will definitely flock to this.
Tracklist
1. Broken & Beaten 04:49
2. Witch Burner 03:59
3. Altar 05:31
Standout Track(s):
We can’t decide between “Altar” and “Witch Burner”. “Altar” possess some hallucenegtic sludge while “Witch Burner” is a great instrumental with intriguing spoken word moments about the witches of Salem Massachusetts.
Adult Beverage Pairing
We recommend Birth of Tragedy by Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont. This 8.26% ABV imperial porter is oak barrel-aged for a year and brewed with local roasted coffee and Vermont honey. What else could you ask for.
