Lightmaker (ST)
Crank this to 8.8 of 11
Released: 2020
Genre: Doom
Sounds Like: Windhand, Deathbell

As winter sets in and days grow colder we tend to reach for our doom albums, it just feels natural. Released just I time for the cold months ahead, the debut by Lightmaker will settle in just fine among our heavy collection. The trio hailing from Brooklyn have delivered a very engrossing album of comforting doom. They take us on a journey through hazy fuzz and trippy grooves topped off with sultry female fronted vocals. Speaking of the vocals, they are strong and mesmerizing at the same time, while not overpowering the music. It's great chemistry right off the bat for Lightmaker.
What we love about this album is they don't ride the coattails of bands like Windhand or Lucifer, Lightmaker inject some originality into the scene. It's comforting doom that is perfect for your next wintery bonfire or hiking trip.

Standout Track(s)
"Destined for Death" hits with one hell of a might riff. The cathartic fuzz and bottomless bass coupled by the trippy vocals is very mesmerizing. This song tends to make your mind wander for a bit.
Adult Beverage Pairing
Let's go with a local brew to Lightmaker and grab some Small Laced In Space IPA by one of our favorite NY Breweries, Other Half Brewing. This 6.5% IPA is a great companion when hanging by a cold night fire with Lightmaker cranked in the background.
