Blackletter (Animal Farm)

Crank this to 3.9 of 11

Year Released: 2020

Genre: Hard rock, Progressive

Sounds Like: Faith No More, Circus of Power

Balckletter from Rhode Island have put together an ambitious album filled with dramatic progressive hard rock. The eight songs are somewhat unique to the progressive rock genre. We love the use of the piano and the unique songwriting, but that’s about all that kept us intrigued. Animal Farm often gives off a 90’s glam metal vibe which throws us for a loop. Check out “Fallin Down” and the Dangerous Toys sounding “Dark River,” this track bleeds with 90s glam rock. We’ve had this album in rotation for quit some time and struggled to find a consistent place in our rotation.

1. Animal Farm 05:41

2. Vlad The Impaler 05:21

3. Murder On The Run 04:49

4. Fallin Down 03:32

5. Better Rain 04:47

6. Invisible Chains/The Waltz 04:46

7. Dark River 03:58

8. Jezebel 04:02

Standout Track(s)

We’re going with ”Dark River,” we can at least have some fun cranking up the glam metal.

Final Thoughts

We love the ambition to be bring something new to the table in the progressive rock genre. After a few rotations the album did get a bit stale. We’ll keep tabs on the band as it will be intriguing to hear a follow up.
