We are starting to see a comeback of the thrash metal scene as many stoner rock acts are diving headfirst in to this style. It’s stimulating and inspiring when these two genres collide. Hashteroid from Vancouver, British Columbia have unleashed a refreshing brand of stoner thrash upon us with their Self-Titled full length. Take the rhythmic stoner groove of old Sword and crank up the speed, add some punk attitude along with the swift fury of Saviours and you have one hell of a stoner metal album. The vocals resemble the classic 80s and 90s style of thrash when this genre was at its peak.

Hashteroid has pressed firmly on the gas pedal of stoner rock and never looked back. There are no brake pads on this trip, its pure adrenaline heaviness at its finest.

Standout Track(s)
“Stan the Wolfman” offers tremendous amped up stoner speed metal jams, this track just keeps going and doesn’t want to end.  “Green Caramel” is the faster cousin to Fu Manchu’s “Hell on Wheels,” this track is smooth thrash with awesome rhythm.

Alcohol Pairing
Enjoy the galactic bitterness of Hoptronix. This 9% Double India Pale Ale by New Holland Brewing pairs well with Hashteroid.

Lasting Impression
Released through Cursed Tounge Records, this album has us fired for the new wave of stoner/thrash. It’s an album that never wears out its welcome, throw it on shuffle or not, either way the music is engrossing and will put you in an old school metal frame of mind. - 5/25/2018
