Stoner Doom
Sounds Like:
Carnaval, Gas Giant, Monster Magnet

On our first rotation of Wizzerd we assumed they were from Argentina or South America, these guys have a raw homegrown stoner quality that seems to stem from this region. To our surprise, Wizzerd hail from the great state of Montana, home to the great craft brewery Bozeman Brewing. There is something special to that independent stoner sound that brings us back to the mid-nineties. The vocals of singer/guitarist who goes by Dragon has a Dave Wyndorf tone which pairs perfectly with the band.

Upon first listen the opening track “Great Mother Gaia” kicks things off on a high note with an energetic stoned rhythm which you know right way will sound great for your next road trip. The album keeps on this path of heavy riffage this time with a more bluesy “King of Esbat”. We absolutely love the acoustic breakdown at the 2:15 mark on this song, it conjures up imagery of cheerful medieval festival gatherings. The album continues to impress with tons of smoke filled jamming and trippy vocals throughout. We urge fans of the heavy to dive into this one, it’s impossible not to get  sucked you into their musical wizzardry.

Standout Track(s)
The second track ”King of Esbat” shows some exploratory which helps mix things up. “The Doomed” churns along at a moderate doomy pace until the last minute where the pace picks up into an awesome bouncing stoner vibe. The track “Dragon” slays with its classic galloping metal injected into the stoned jamming, great change of pace and a nice homage to classic metal. And the the track “Wizard” has an infectious bluesy aura with tremendous bass.

Adult Beverage Pairing
Grab something local to Wizzerd and go with Taurus Imperial Stout by Montana’s Bozeman Brewing! This 9.5% ABV stout is a bit on the strong side, but is smooth and pairs well the Wizzerd.
