One man projects are usually a gamble. Is the music over or under produced? Does it sound auto tuned or too computerized? Well, none of these factors are found in 10 Waves Of You second release Sail. Artist Luca Crivellaro from Vigevano, Italy is the mastermind behind this one man band. He plays all instruments, handles all the recording, mixing, mastering and the album art. We must say, this EP grew on us, its four instrumental tracks of soothing, spacious post-rock and ambiance.

The beautiful sound of a piano overlaid on top of minimal ambiance will succumb over you. This opening track "Sail" is very calming as it leads directly into the aptly titled “South West Wind”. Luca continues on his path to enlighten us with comforting sounds as the use of post rock guitars and percussion are introduced. At times we felt the drumming sounded a bit electronic, but it never really hampered the sound as it works with the ambient aspect of the EP.

The post-rock ambiance continues to flow with “Sunburst”. The slow build-up in this track is great, the second half explodes into a shoegaze styled jam. It’s very impressive for an individual, as the layering of instruments is spot on. The last cut “Round Window” showcases Lucas’ guitar techniques; the production is clean and the song flows at an upbeat moderate pace.

If you love the post-rock genre, yet don’t mind a bit of ambiance mixed in, do yourself a favor and give this EP a shot. It’s a "Name Your Price” download at Bandcamp, so there is nothing to lose. - 4/20/2016
