When it comes to the hardcore punk scene we yearn for something a bit different and genuine. The genre is loaded with so much talent flying under the radar. Welcome IEatHeatAttacks from Norway and their first full length entitled Please Just Dance Death. This album hit a nerve and has awakened our passion for this genre. The three-piece band consists of brothers Jompi and Noppers Myren and longtime friend Erik Fossmo. These guys throw down some highly aggressive and rhythmic noise on this album, its nine extremely entertaining tracks of hardcore bliss.

What are the highlights of the album?
It’s a tough call to pinpoint any particular highlights on this one. The last track “Black Hearts” really hit a nerve, the thrashing rhythm is second to none, while the dual vocals are dead on perfect. “The Six” gives us some exhilarating start-stop action with awesome vocals to match. The title track, “Please Just Dance Death” is highly contagious with its pit inducing aggression. On the second to last track, “You Will Try To Escape,” we find the band exploring some well-timed echoed vocals and mid-tempo arrangements which make for great contrasts when placed among the hardcore style.

How is the production value?
The production is just fine, the layering of multiple vocal performances is done very well. The changeups are very impressive and don’t stop throughout the album. The tracks are genuinely short as they cut right to the meat of the song… the way hardcore is meant to be.

How is the vocal performance?
The vocals are perfect for this type of album; dual gut-wrenching with a hardcore edge.

Does the album art reflect the music?
The album cover is unique and led us wanting to discover more about the band.

What adult beverage to enjoy while listening to this album?
We’re not fooling around here, so lets’ cut to the chase. Pick up a four pack of Boom Sauce by Massachusetts-based Lord Hobo Brewing. This 8.00% ABV IPA is the perfect companion to IEatHeartAttacks.

What are our final thoughts on Please Just Dance Death?
We are stoked to come across such a great hardcore album. These guys don’t try to do too much and fit into some post-modern hardcore bullshit, it feels genuine. Head over to their Bandcamp site and just order their whole catalog. - 7/18/2017
